The book is divided into six theme sections. In the first section, novel
techniques such as reactive milling and mechanical alloying by swift heavy
ions have been discussed. The second section covers kinetics of sintering
and consolidation of Cu-Zn-Graphite and Ti-Tin MA powders. The third deals
with developments related to most promising application area of MA powders
'Surface Engineering', and surface properties of MA materials and thermal
coatings have been discussed. In the fourth section, metastable materials
viz. amorphous, quasicrystalline and nanocrystalline materials have been
discussed. Especially mention worthy are the application of the technique
for the development of high specific strength aluminium alloy Al90 Fe5 Nd5
for transport industry, lead-free solder materials and silver based
electrical contact material. The last section covers development of some
other novel intermetallic composites, magnetic materials and hydrogen
storage materials. In another paper application of MA technique for
successful addition of trace elements in the matrix material has been
covered. The volume will also find application in development of electronic
materials.
