This volume provides a description of
dicotyledons. It covers 306 species from 12 families, many of them enjoying
considerable economic importance: birches, willows, poplar, elm etc.
Chenopodiaceae (goosefoot family), one of the largest families, on one hand,
include most valuable edible plants (specially in deserts and subdeserts)
and, on other hand, toxic weeds. Polygonaceae (buckwheat family) are
manifested in diverse viable forms. All species bear priority names
conforming to International Code for Botanical Nomenclature. Several new
species and minor taxa have been described. The morphology of species,
ecological data and, where available, chromosome numbers are given. The
actual site of a given specimen is cited in case of identification from
Siberian material.
