This book is a result of
the IGU-LUCC summer workshop in 2000 held in Japan and Korea, which focused
on comparative case studies of land-use/cover changes. The workshop
consisted of paper sessions, a poster session, and site visits in the Tokyo
metropolitan area, Hokkaido, and Seoul metropolitan area and its vicinity
designed for comparative studies. The topics of presentations range from
methodological/ data-related issues to regional urban/ rural land-use
changes at various settings. The book will be useful for the study of
environmental changes in general and for the study of land-use/ cover
changes in particular, and that it stimulates further development of
comparative case studies of land-use changes in more diverse settings
worldwide.
